Lagos Magistrate Court Clerars Man Accused of Defrauding Petrol Company of N30million
Iheanyi Iroegbu has been cleared of fraud charges linked to Defrauding a Petrol Company of N30million, by the Magistrate Court of Lagos.
Recall that in 2016, Iheanyi Iroegbu was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrate Court for allegedly defrauding a petroleum company, Dappa Marine Services of N30million.
Dappa Marine Services had alleged that Iheanyi Iroegbu allegedly obtained 1,337,157 metric tonnes from the company and loaded them onto a vessel marked, ‘MT PROGRSS”.
They also alleged that Iheanyi Iroegbu issued six different Cheques wotth ₦15 million to the company between January 2008 to December 2012.
But Iheanyi Iroegbu was found not guilty on all charges by the jury at the Yaba Magistrate Court,thereby clearing him of any wrong doing.
In her ruling dated 29th, June 2016, Mrs. A. O Erinle of the Yaba Magistrate Court, said, ” Upon the evidence of the witness and the terms of settlement dated 29th June 2016, signed by complainant and defendant, The court is satisfied with the reasons for withdrawal and accepts same. consequently the nine count charge profiled against the defendant is thereby struck out and the defendant discharged accordingly”.
The court also warned that the matter can not be revisited once the term of settlement is agreed on by both parties and the matter is struck out.
