The All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders from the 10 Electoral Wards in Ihitte/Uboma LGA of Imo State on Friday 9th July, 2021 unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on their illustrious son Hon Michael Onyemaechi Njoku, the Honourable Member representing Ihitte/Uboma State Constituency at Imo State House of Assembly, Owerri.
The party leaders earlier condemned the illegal suspension of the Lawmaker along with other five colleagues from IMSHA by the Speaker of the House Rt Hon Paul Emeziem on Thursday 8th July, 2021 during their plenary session.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Engr Mark Uchendu, the former Secretary to Imo State Government (SSG), called for the amicable resolutions of the disagreement among the Imo State Lawmakers which led to the alleged suspension of six of them by the Speaker.
He informed his audience that he had spoken with both Hon Michael Crown and the Speaker to find out what led to the disagreement and assured them that the matter would soon be resolved through the Appeal Committee which the Speaker has set up.
Engr Mark Uchendu also reminded the party leaders that another reason for the meeting was to share the APC Party Executives between Ihitte Clan and Uboma Clan to avoid disagreement during the forthcoming APC Congress.
He thanked Hon Michael Crown for calling for the meeting and all the leaders who attended it.
Addressing the leaders, Hon Michael Crown welcomed and thanked them for coming. He narrated what led to his alleged suspension from IMSHA by the Speaker and described it as an ‘academic exercise’ which would soon be resolved.
He reminded the leaders that he would continue to give Ihitte/Uboma State Constituency quality representation at IMSHA and that he would never succumb to any intimidation from anybody because none of the state constituencies is bigger or more important than the others.
Hon Crown also told his audience that the meeting was called to look at the ways of harmonizing the APC Party Executives for Ihitte/Uboma in preparation for the Congress.
He made it very clear that APC in Imo State is one happy family and that the APC Leader in the state remains the Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The outgoing APC Party Chairman for Ihitte/Uboma, Chief Friday Obasi also addressed the leaders and presented the list of the Party Executive positions to be shared between Ihitte Clan and Uboma Clan to Hon Michael Crown who later read it for the audience.
Finally, the sharing formula was agreed upon and a 12-Man Committee was set up to meet to finalize arrangement before the APC Party Congress for the LGA.
Some of the notable APC leaders who attended the meeting included: Engr Mark Uchendu, High Chief CC Anyanwu, Dr Harold Onunmuo, Chief Friday Obasi and Barr Uche Okonkwo. Others were Hon CO Agonmuo, Chief Cletus Iwu, Sir Prince Kelechi Onuoha, Chief Stan Ajaelu KSM, Chief Ambrose Onuoha, Engr Chris Anyanwu, Chief Theo George, Chief Mrs Monica Anamekwe and Hon Jonathan Nwachukwu.
